Americans aged 25 to 34 earn an annual average SALARY of $56,160, according to data compiled by MarketWatch Guide.
However, some young people American workers they're making that number several times over – and they're moving to the places where they are money will go further.
Financial technology company SmartAsset pulled IRS data to rank states by net inflow of “young and wealthy” households — those ages 26 to 35 who earn more than 200 thousand dollars per year — to find out where they are fleeing and going.
California experienced the largest exodus of young people and rich households in 2022, with more than 3,000 departures, according to the study. Illinois saw the second highest loss at 1,323.
Meanwhile, young with high profits are moving to Florida and Texas; both states attracted more than twice as many young and affluent households as any other state, with net gains at 1,786 and 1,660, respectively, according to the data.
Half of the states witnessing an influx of young, affluent families have no state income taxreported SmartAsset.
