While inflation caused ComPeTITIon for increasing value among big brands, nostalgia for fast food restaurants – and their affordable prices – are high. The One X account takes us back to a simpler time of extreme color schemes, gorgeous designs and low prices.
Account X Time capsule tales is posting photos of fast food icons like Taco Bell, Burger King, Pizza Hut, McDonald's and others in their 1970s, '80s and '90s glory.
Nostalgic photos include a Burger King that was found “completely intact” behind a wall in a long-closed mall in Wilmington, Delaware, in 2022.

One of the main points is around 1970-1980 The Taco Bell menu, which explains in great detail what tacos and burritos are, complete with a phonetic pronunciation of each food — “Tah-co” and “Buh-ree-toh.”
The menu is from when the brand called it Pintos and cheese refried beans by another name – Frijoles (Fre-ho-les) and were still served by the now-defunct Enchirito, who made a short throwback last year.
The enchirito, tostada and combo burrito were all the rage and they're all gone now. I rarely go to TB anymore, but when they brought back enchiritos in '22 for a limited time, I bought an enchirito (or two, lol) at least twice a week. It wasn't the same, but it was still good! pic.twitter.com/OFabl2YuuR

Then, there are the prices. A retro Taco Bell the 1984 menu shows how cheap it used to be to eat fast food. Drink prices – $45 for a small Pepsi compared to $2.29 today for the same drink – are immediately noticeable. But it's the Combo Burrito meal for $1.19 that stands out. Taco Bell's least expensive joint is the value-inspired joint $5.99 combowith prices for combination meals rising from there to Price point $11.29 for 2 Chicken Chalupa Supreme Combo.
