Amazon's fake book problem with UFO tome 'imminent'

The former senior leader of a Pentagon unit that studied UFOs is releasing a long-awaited book this August — and some already have INCORRECT ordered from fraudulent Amazon listings and received superficially convincing forgeries of the book.

Luis Elizondo LED The Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), a US government unit that looked in UFOs before him resigned in 2017.

At the end of May, Elizondo announced a book called Inevitable: Inside the Pentagon's Hunt for UFOsstating that the book “underwent a 9-month US Government security review”. Unavoidable is scheduled for release on August 20 and has already climbed to the top of Amazon's bestseller list in the military aviation history, UFO and unexplained mysteries categories – but some who pre-ordered the book on Amazon have already received fakes .

An Amazon buyer who pre-ordered Unavoidable got a book last week with a cover as expected. However, when they opened it, it was full of blank pages.

or POST from another user X points out that a fake copy of the book existed on Amazon with a different author name (Didier Alarie) but with the same book cover. False was listed at a cheaper price.

Although Elizondo CLEAR that he was the sole author behind the book, the problem of fraudulent book postings on Amazon extends beyond Unavoidable.

“Fake books on Amazon have been a problem for years,” said Mary Rasenberger, CEO of the Authors Guild. NPR in March.

Every new book seems to spawn others that try to “steal sales,” according to Rasenberger.

With ChatGPT, the problem is multiplied. AI-generated compilations disguised as e-books are currently flooding Amazon, for a January Wires report, especially before major book releases.

The case continues though Amazon currently allows sellers to upload a maximum of three books per day.

Copyrighted books are also allegedly being used to train AI.

Author and comedian Sarah Silverman presented one suit against ChatGPT creator OpenAI last year, along with authors Christopher Golden and Richard Kadrey, claiming ChatGPT was trained on their copyrighted books.
