What are the most profitable Airbnb cities for hosts, owners


In some cities, Airbnb listings earn more than the average weekly wage – in one night.

Using data from Airbnb and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, financial site Wealth of Geeks compared average weekly wage data to the average nightly cost of an Airbnb short-term rental and found the top 10 cities where an Airbnb rental could earn you more than a hosts – and in some cases, more than half the wages they would have made in a week.

“Residents' ability to earn more than half their weekly wage from renting out a property for a single night is impressive, not to mention, an extremely convenient way to earn extra income – it's very easier than time-consuming second jobs or side hustles,” said Michael Dinich, founder of Wealth of Geeks.

Arizona has seven top 10 spots, including no. 1 and no. 2.

Airbnb, meanwhile, recently updated its platform with more guest experiences and introduced the option to stay in “iconshouses around the world, from the house in the movie “Up” to Prince's “Purple Rain” house.

Airbnb also recently launched new tools for hosts, such as group messaging.

Here are the top-grossing US cities for Airbnb hosts, based on Airbnb revenue as a percentage of average weekly wages.

1. Scottsdale, Arizona

Average weekly salary: 804 dollars
