Shaquille O'Neal is supersized in every way. His resumption is longer than his body and he is over seven meters tall. He won four championship rings in the NBA. He is a cohabitant of Inside the NBA, A show that won 21 Emmy. He is a judge in grindinga pitch show for entrepreneurial students. He owns an exclusivity of Gazillion and makes a whole group of other items.
I was excited that I had it in a last episode of How does success happenwhich you can hear right here or read a shortened transcript below. Shaq is funny, inspiring and extremely generous – but do not make a mistake, if he is happy with your attitude, he will make your hands.
Dan Bova: Shaq, you are a busy guy. You just don't sit down and rest.
Shaquille O'Neal: Growing up under the tut of a military sergeant, you are always used to staying focused and just continue to work and continue to the other. I have never been one to rest on my laurels or, you know, to be impressed with my tuning. I work hard, get tuning and then alone, you know, go on to the next thing.
At the emergence of the “Grind” field, you have given many contestants the same advice: don't get nervous when talking about money. It is easy to say “don't get nervous”, but hard to do.
Whenever I try to use OPM (other people's money) to build other companies – especially in technology space – I talk to technology experts, so I know what I'm talking about. If you know its insects and opposition, you are not nervous. I try to do my right care and really understand what I'm looking for. You don't want to go to a meeting with Jeff Bezos and just ask $ 100 million. You want Jeff to know and understand exactly what you are doing, and then he can say, “Okay, Shaq, I believe in what you believe. I like being an investor in your company.”
I've read that growth, you haven't been so excited to be much longer than all around you. Any tips you can give to make it on your skin?
I'm a product of my environment. I wasn't quiet until I saw another NBA player named Magic Johnson. I mean, he smiles and he is dribbing and everyone loves it. I saw the tracks he had, and I was like, “You know what? I like to be tall now.” At first, when you are the longest child in school and everyone is watching you, it is uncomfortable. But around the age of 14, when I started coming to my basketball body, then I just forgot. One of the positions for me is that I was treated as an early adult. I was 17 and they thought I was 23, that was the best. I can't say it now, but I look good for 50.
Connected: Smart Shaq strategy used to begin its big chicken exclusivity
You have been a part of the start of the new business as a campus, but you are also really big in exclusivity. Seed attracted you compared to the beginning of your things from scratch?
I call it op – ownership and partnership. You know, of course, I'm not running the franchise, but you are a partner with people who are smarter than you. It is about keeping and being a team member with brands that are very, very successful. As for the campus, education is so important to me. I am taking a master in the liberal arts, but I want to be a sports psychologist.
Sports psychology, I imagine many new players in the NBA asking for advice. Is it what made you follow that?
I find it difficult to believe that a guy who has never been in pressure situations can show me how to treat pressure. Athletes know that I understand. And once I come up with academic credentials, combined with sports background? When you join them both, I think it's a very powerful component. I have not seen any sports psychologist who has won championships. I had a lot of pressure, so I want to be the first and single.
You have been a great leader in court. You have played for six teams. How's Shaqi's day in the closet room?
Likes how to watch a punitive movie. On the first day you have to let them know who Badass is. The only time when I didn't do it was when I went to play with Lebron because he already had everything under control. For any other closet room in which I enter, you know I am responsible. And if you don't listen to my oral ways, I will have to put these hands. And I have put hands on many players. I won't say who, but it's my way or highway. And if you don't like you, then you will be treated properly. You have to notify them in front of everyone, “Hey man, shoot the ball once again and I will immediately score you on your face.” And then if they go down and shoot it? You have to hit him in the face. Once you know you are serious, you get control.
Connected: Shaquille O'Neal reveals his 3 secrets toward success
Years ago I interviewed you in person, walking through a Florida shopping mall. And it was amazing to see how people react to you and how long do you give people.
I like to go to some of my favorite points, like Best Buy or Wal-Mart, and Hustle Ear. Do you know what that means? Ear promotion means listening to people's conversations. So I was in Walmart and saw this little girl and her mother. So the girl was going, “Mom, I love this, I love this,” and I can see the mother trying to do her best to get what she could afford. So everything the little girl looked at, I just waited back and then just grabbed her. So when Mom goes to pay for her things, I give her this carriage full of things. I was like “here you go. You guys left this. That's free”. She's like, “No, I can't get it.” I was like, “Sorry is paid for it, you have to do.” Then I told the little girl, I said, “The little baby, never get things from strangers.”
Not all those who have tools do such things.
My mother gave me the biggest advice ever. And it's so simple. It costs you nothing to be good. I am the one I am. You know who I am, but I don't have to throw it into your face, right? Just be good. If you are well, I'm good. We live in a crazy world, where we need a whole group of beauty.
