US states where small businesses thrive grow rapidly


Millions of Americans are becoming an entrepreneurAccording to US Department of the Treasury.

More than 40% of people followed it passion in entrepreneurship, while nearly 30% started their own businesses to gain the flexibility and autonomy that comes with it being their boss, THE RESULTa provider of business resources and mentoring, reported.

Small businesses employ nearly half of the American workforce and represent 43.5% of America's GDP, according to American Chamber of Commercehowever a staggering 50% of them will fail within five years of launch, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Location can play an important role in the long-term survival of a business and growth. So which US states are most attractive to budding entrepreneurs?

Credit company for small businesses OnDeck determined which states have the fastest growing numbers of young women small businesses analyzing the most recent available small business data from the US Census (2020-2021).

Almost every state showed small businesses increasing somewhat, with two exceptions: West Virginia, which had no year-over-year growth, and New Yorkwhich had a decrease of 0.05% compared to the previous year.

And the state with the fastest growing number of small businesses? That would be Idaho, where small businesses grew 6.55% year over year.
