The intent trust has evolved into a powerful estate planning trust in the United States. It is a non-charitable trust with no beneficiaries that generally perpetuates one purpose: to take care of property. It started primarily as a pet trust because pets are considered property. The goal belief has since evolved to include many expanded goals.1 In addition, the durations of trust intent have been extended beyond the typical 21 to 25 years of initial pet trust statutes. Modern purpose
