If you've ever used the Cash app to send or receive money, you could be eligible to receive a share of a $15 million group payout.
A new lawsuit The settlement says the money transfer platform showed a “failure to exercise reasonable care” in working to protect customers' personal information before the massive data breaches in 2021 and 2023 that affected an estimated 8.2 million users.

In the 2021 lawsuit, a Cash App employee allegedly downloaded user information to the backend without permission.
Other claims in the lawsuit say Cash App and its parent company, Block, were “negligent” and “breached other obligations to users” by mishandling customer complaints about unauthorized or fraudulent transactions made on the account.
Block App and Cash deny any responsibility in the allegations.
Who is entitled to payment?
Cash App users with an account on the platform whose personal information was accessed without permission, or who fell victim to fraudulent transactions on their account between August 23, 2018 and August 20, 2024, are eligible to file a claim.
Those looking to cash in a settlement payment can submit a claim through solution administrator website from now until November 18th.
How much can Cash App users get?
Those who receive a reduction in payment can receive up to $2,500, depending on their eligibility and how many people file a claim.
Customers can submit a claim in three separate areas – out-of-pocket loss, transaction loss and lost time.

Those filing an out-of-pocket loss claim can receive up to $2,000, while those filing a lost time claim can receive up to $25 for three hours, and an unspecified amount of money for transaction losses.
“Block and Cash App Investing have also agreed to some valuable improvements to the security of their data,” the settlement administrator's announcement also said. It does not specify what improvements are taking place.
