Salesforce is implementing a strict back-to-office policy for employees across the country.
“Selected employees in sales, workplace services, data center engineering and on-site support technicians under the chief information officer will be required to come into the office four to five days per week, beginning on 1 October,” read an internal memo, according to New York Post.
Other departments, including legal, product and marketing will be mandated to an “office-flex” schedule, meaning they are required to return to the office at least three days a week.
Some engineering roles are only required to return to the office for 10 days per quarter.
“We all know we're more productive at home,” one employee wrote Reddit. “I think they're just trying to come to terms with the numbers and they're going crazy.”
“As much as I hate to admit it, there are days when going into the office is super helpful,” argued another, while some called the decision a “backward step” for the company.

The decision follows Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff in 2022 who said that Back-to-office mandates would simply “never work.”
According to The San Francisco Standard, Salesforce will also launch an “internal dashboard” to track employee badge scans at its US offices starting in August. All employees will have access to this data to promote “full visibility” of the company's tracking policy.
“Salesforce has always been a hybrid workplace company,” a Salesforce spokesperson told the media. “Our guidelines focus on connecting in person, while also recognizing the value of working away from the office.”
Earlier this month, Salesforce quietly laid off about 300 employees.
