Prospera Adds $115M California Adviser From Wells Fargo

Prospera Financial Services, an independent broker/dealer headquartered in Dallas, has added an Irvine, Calif.-based team with approximately $115 million in assets under management. Up the Graph Financial Group, led by Garrick Updegraph, is joined by Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network.

Updegraph was with Wells Fargo for 13 years. Before that, he was with Morgan Stanley.

“I wanted to partner with a firm that offered the freedom and breadth of services, in addition to back-office efficiencies, that enable me to provide the level of service my clients expect,” Updegraph said in a statement.

His team provides financial planning and wealth management to multi-generational clients and retirement planning to institutions.

“We intentionally designed our firm for advisors like Garrick who don't want to choose between growing their practice and providing the highest quality of personalized service to their clients,” said Tarah Williams, president and chief operating officer of Prospera, in a statement.

In January, Prospera debuted a new suite of family office services featuring “a multi-layered support team” of experts to help advisors create personalized wealth strategies for their wealthiest clients.

In February, Prospera recruited Painter, Smith & Amberg, a Redlands, California-based team with $650 million in client assets. They previously ran their own broker/dealer and RIA.
