although Apple announced some sweeping AI changes in Syria WWDC event last month, it was unclear when these changes would arrive iPhone screens. But a new report from Bloomberg chief correspondent Mark Gurman clarifies the timeline.
Gourmet, who has one 86.5% rate of accuracy in the Apple information he has leaked in the past, he wrote in his Sunday Power over newsletter that although Apple Intelligence AI will be released this fall, the most important updates to Siri will arrive next spring.
This includes Siri access and work with other Apple applications based on a simple command. For example, when asked, “Hey Siri, what's my driver's license number?” Siri will soon be able to go through the Photos app, find a photo of the license plate, and even be able to put the numbers into a web form.
Another Siri improvement coming next year is Siri's context understanding, or the ability to interpret what an iPhone user is looking at.
In the fall, Siri will still be loaded with ChatGPT and will have a design change, but the voice assistant will lack those key contextual features, according to Gurman.
The Siri update won't be complete until developers beta test the features starting in January and Apple releases the update publicly in spring 2025, according to the same report.

The Bloomberg report is consistent with Apple's public statements.
Apple noted in it June press release that Apple Intelligence will begin rolling out this fall in beta, but “some additional features, software platforms, and languages will be coming over the next year.” The fine print leaves room for some features to debut later, after the fall release of Apple Intelligence.
Apple entered the AI game nearly two years after ChatGPT launched, but decided to take a more collaborative approach to AI development. Along with creating AI in-house, Apple also chose to integrate ChatGPT directly into its products and open the door to AI designs from other competitors.

AI could also prompt hundreds of millions of iPhone users with older models to upgrade this fall — Apple Intelligence only works on Newer iPhones.
