Google says election ads with Deepfakes should be flagged

Google's update requires advertisers to check for “altered or synthetic content” if they're running ads that contain deep fakes. An example would be an ad that alters existing video footage to make a political candidate appear to have said something different than what was actually said.

The “altered or synthetic” media disclosure statement in ads must be visible and clear, per Google's requirements. Applies to images, video and audio.

Some changes will not trigger detection, including editing techniques such as cropping and color correction.
