A social media POST from last week's Dr. Bronner revealed an insider aspect of her business: the soap maker caps the pay of its highest-paid executives at five times the highest-paid, fully-equipped employee. (Fully dressed means someone who is full-time and has been with the company for at least five years.)
“An ethical company should pay a fair wage and good benefits and enable people to afford the wages they get,” said CEO David Bronner, adding, “We're really trying to set an example of being just reasonable.”
Dr. Bronner's 2023 earnings ratio the details that the company has created 170 million dollars in revenue in 2022, with 86.7% of sales made in the US. The soapmaker had 311 total employees in the US, and about 73% of its managers were promoted from within.
The initial salary of Dr. Bronner's pay for regular, non-temporary employees in 2022 was $24.85 an hour, while temporary workers' wages started at $21.30 an hour, according to the report.
If a full-time employee were to stay at their starting 2022 salary for five years, at a forty-hour-a-week schedule, they would earn $47,712 a year.

The median CEO salary last year was about $1.3 million — more than five times the estimated salary of Dr. Bronner – according to a June STUDY from the Associated Press.
The study tracked CEO pay at S&P 500 companies and found that in half the firms, “it would take the worker in the middle of the company's pay scale almost 200 years to make what their CEO did.”
The average pay package for CEOs, taking into account salaries, bonuses and stock awards, was $16.3 million overall.

In addition to a salary cap, Dr. Bronner coverage child care up to $7,500 per family, offers a health care plan with no out-of-pocket costs, and provides employees with an organic, vegan meal each day.
