After graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas of New York in 1971 Shark Tank star and real estate developer Barbara Corcoran knows firsthand how stressful it is to look for a job after graduation – Corcoran previously discovered that she worked 22 jobs until she was 23 years old.

In a TikTok video viewed more than 42,600 times, Corcoran offered advice to recent graduates about the “real world” and what to consider before accepting a job offer.

Sometimes the pressure to make a quick decision can be harmful in the long run, she said.

Corcoran told the graduates not to commit themselves to choosing a career that only matches their major.

“Try a lot before you decide what you want to do with your life,” she explained. “It pays a lot – don't get stuck in your specialty.”

She also said to make a decision based on “how much (the job) will teach you” and look beyond salary, if possible.

“Take money out of the equation and focus on just one thing — try to find something you do really, really well,” she said. is explained. “And then practice the hell out of it until you get really, really good at it.”

Corcoran also told the graduates to choose a job with a good boss.

“Having a good boss will have more to do with your happiness at work than what you do with your day,” she says.

Finally, she suggested closing every interview with this question: “Is there anything that would prevent you from hiring me?”

Corcoran sold Her real estate firm, the Corcoran Group, for $66 million in 2001.

Her net worth as of Tuesday morning was about $400 million.
