Sriracha lovers are in for some disappointing news as the cult favorite hot sauce may be on the verge of another potential shortage.
Huy Fong Foods, the supplier and manufacturer of Sriracha, has halted production of the sauce until at least after Labor Day, citing problems with the red jalapeño chiles used to create the spice in the sauce.

“After re-evaluating our chili supply, we have determined that it is too green to continue with production as it is affecting the color of the product,” Huy Fong Foods told wholesale customers in a letter seen by USA Today. “We regret to inform you that we have decided to stop production until after Labor Day when our next chili season begins.”
The company said all orders from bulk customers that were set to be delivered starting May 6 onwards have now been canceled and will remain “on hold” until production resumes.

Huy Fong Foods then announced that it halted production due to an unusually low harvest of red jalapeño chile peppers caused by drought and other climate issues in Mexico and the US Southwest.
Huy Fong originally bought its chiles from Underwood Ranches in Ventura, California, but sued the supplier in 2017 claiming they overpaid the farm for produce and eventually parted ways.

According to Associated PressHuy Fong Foods now sources its peppers from various farms in California, New Mexico and Mexico.
Huy Fong Foods did not immediately respond of the entrepreneur request for comment.
