Eton Advisors, a Chapel Hill, NC-based registered investment advisor with almost $2 billion in client assets, has hired Brian Hughes as president. Most recently, Hughes was founder and president of Hughes Growth Strategies, a consultancy for wealth management firms.
In the new role, Hughes will be responsible for Eton's client strategy, growth and development of thought leadership content for clients.
“Brian's appointment heralds a new chapter of growth and innovation for Eton,” said Teresa Eriksson, founding partner of Eton Advisors.
Hughes has 30 years of experience in the industry. Prior to launching Hughes Growth Strategies, he was head of strategic relationships at Threshold Group, a private multifamily office that is now part of AlTi Tiedemann Global. Prior to that, he served as head of business development for Pitcairn, another multifamily office.
“Joining Eton Advisors is a homecoming of sorts for me,” Hughes said in a statement. “Having worked with nearly 75 firms as a consultant and led growth for two private multi-family offices, I was impressed by their ability to use smart technology, a proprietary solution created by Eton Advisors, to deliver a comprehensive experience family office, Eton was also an early adopter of a goals-based investment approach since the founders began serving their client base over 20 years ago.
Eton was co-founded in 2009 by Robert Mallernee, Jack Parham and Eriksson, who worked together at US Trust and UBS, serving as senior executives in their respective multifamily office groups. RIA joined Focus Financial Partners in 2017.
