If you're having trouble with your Apple ID this week, you're not alone.
A unknown interrupt is reportedly affecting Apple users who were logged out of their Apple IDs over the weekend and were forced to perform a password reset before regaining access to their accounts.
outlet 9 to 5 Mac reported that some users had been logged out of all their devices and that their usual passwords had stopped working.
Users on X and Threads have reported the strange reset, prompting questions about whether it was a bug — or something more sinister.

Apple just asked me to enter my AppleID password, then after doing that it asked for my phone passcode,
then locked my account and asked me to reset my AppleID password

HEY @Apple : I haven't been able to access my Apple TV+ account for almost a month now. It says my ID/PAK is invalid even though I haven't changed it. When I try to do a password reset, I get in a loop where it says you can't verify my identity and you have to call me.

The issues reportedly started around 8pm ET on Friday and continued into the weekend.
As of Tuesday morning, the Apple ID section is open Apple system status the site was reported available and working normally.
A user on Threads claims that an Apple representative told them there was “no problem” logging into iCloud when they explained the situation.
As of Tuesday afternoon, users appear to have been able to work around the problem by resetting their passwords, but the ordeal presents a host of problems for users with multiple Apple devices.
For those who have Apple Stolen device protection is enabled, which adds an extra layer of security to iCloud accounts if your device is stolen, it may take an hour or more to reset passwords or perform certain functions if the device is away from a known location.
For example, if you were on vacation and tried to reset your password to sign in after being prompted, you wouldn't be able to because of security delays.
